The commenting mode is supposed to bring even more collaboration to your mapping and persona creation processes and improve the quality of your teamwork. Here is how you use it.

Switching to the commenting mode

Click the ‘COMMENTS’ button in the toolbar to switch to the commenting mode.

⚠️ Note: You can’t edit the document when the commenting mode is on.

Whenever the commenting mode is on, you will see the comments panel on the right side of the screen. This panel shows the list of comments added to a map or persona.

You can filter comments by their status (open or resolved) and authors.

Comments will be visible to everyone who has access to the document. Besides that, they can resolve comments, reply to them, and add their own.

Adding comments

To add a comment, switch to the commenting mode and click anywhere on the document. This action will leave a comment marker and expand the post-comment dialog:

⚠️ Note: Comments are pinned to the part of the map/persona you leave them on (e.g., sections, stage titles, persona sidebar, etc.). If you move or delete this part of the document, the comments pinned to it will be moved or deleted accordingly.

Types of comments

You can leave both text and audio comments.

The comment will get into the “Resolved” count in the comments panel. You will then be able to reopen it if needed.

Comment notifications

Whenever someone adds a new comment to the document you have access to, replies to your comment, or mentions you in a comment thread, you’ll receive an in-app notification. The notification list is under the top-left drop-down menu.

Additionally, you can set up Slack notifications for these events.

Reactions

Besides comments, you can add reactions — visual elements used to mark specific parts of a document.

To add a reaction to a map or persona, choose the reaction you want to use, then find a fitting place, and click on it to leave your reaction there.

To delete a reaction, click on it and hit the ‘Delete’ button on your keyboard.

If you want to let others know that you placed the reaction, use the sticker with your avatar to place it next to the reaction:

The result will look like this:

Dot voting

Choose the dots’ color and add those to the map or persona the way you add reactions.

⚠️ Note: You can see comments only when you're in the Comments tab of the panel. When you're in the Reactions tab, you see only reactions and dots.
